Preventing insect bites and stings
When out and about:
Bites and stings most commonly occur when outside, particularly in the countryside. Ways to avoid bites and stings include:
Wear long sleeved clothing and long trousers in places where insects are common.
Avoid brightly coloured clothes, cosmetics, perfumes or hair sprays, which attract insects.
Rub an insect repellent onto exposed areas of skin.
Be alert when you cook or eat outdoors as food attracts insects, especially wasps.

WARTS
Apply vitamin A directly onto the wart. Puncture a gel capsule containing a dose of 25,000 IU vitamin A, and squeeze the contents onto the wart. Rub this in. Repeat once a day. Vitamin A is only successful as a home remedy for warts when applied topically, rather than taken orally.
*
Cover the wart with duct tape to provide an impervious barrier. Alternatively, you may use other types of nonporous tape such as first-aid or medical tape, which is available at your local pharmacy. Apply the tape snugly over your wart, and then leave it on around the clock for three to four weeks. Change it as few times as possible. This method works by altering the environment that the wart thrives in to one that is unfriendly.
*
Purchase tea tree oil from a health food store. Apply it once daily to the wart until it is gone.
*
Apply vitamin C onto the wart. Crush a vitamin C tablet. Mix it with 1/4 teaspoon of water to form a paste. Apply this paste onto the wart and cover it using a bandage. Change this once a day. The ascorbic acid contained in Vitamin C helps to kill the wart-causing virus.
*
Make a paste from one part castor oil and one part baking soda. Apply this twice a day, covering it with an adhesive bandage. Continue application until it is gone. Castor oil is available at most health food stores.
*
Moisten a cotton ball with full-strength apple cider vinegar. Place the cotton ball over the wart and tape it down with an adhesive bandage or medical tape. Change this daily until the wart is gone.
*
Slice an onion thickly, and arrange three or four slices in a single layer in a bowl or plate. Sprinkle a teaspoon of salt over the onions and leave it overnight. The salt draws out onion juices, which you should then apply to the wart at least three times a day.

-If Vinegar is not available, you can use tomatoes. Slice the ripe tomatoes in half and rub it gently in the affected area. Repeat the process till there's no more pain.

POISON IVY
DISH LIQUID: Once skin comes in contact with Poison Ivy, immediately wash the area with a grease-cutting dish washing liquid (like Dawn) and plenty of COOL water. Rinse several times with cool water and pat dry. The dish liquid helps to break up and wash away the oil.
OATMEAL: Boil the oatmeal in water and let it cool for a few minutes. Stir in two Tablespoons of Baking Soda. Mix until a thick paste forms. Apply the warm (not hot) oatmeal to the affected area. ARTHRITIS
Prepare a potato-juice potion. Cut a potato into wafer-like slices, leaving its skin intact. Place the slices in a large glass of water, and allow them to soak overnight. Drink the water upon rising in the morning, on an empty stomach. Understand that this treatment has a long history. Potato juice has been used for centuries as a home remedy for arthritis.

*
Gobble some garlic. It is thought that garlic contains elements that can help soothe inflammation, and it has been shown to help relieve arthritis. Both raw and cooked garlic work equally well.
*
*
Drink your juice. Raw vegetable juice from green vegetables, as well as other vegetables like carrots and beets, may help relieve arthritis. These juices are very alkaline, and this alkalinity can serve to clear deposits around the joints, leading to less arthritis pain. Buy a vegetable juicer so you can prepare your own brew.
*
Clear the air. Invest in a dehumidifier to help stabilize humidity in your home. Changes in humidity can cause stiffness in arthritic joints.
*
Have another helping of vegetables. A vegetarian diet has been proven to alleviate arthritis. Reduce or eliminate dairy products, sugar, meat, eggs, dairy products and wheat from your diet and increase the amount of vegetables you consume.

HEADACHES
Give yourself a mini-massage at the first sign of pain. Using the pads of your fingers, press gently and rub the scalp, back of the neck, temples and shoulders.
Apply heat or cold, or alternate between the two. Take a hot bath or shower, or place a hot, wet washcloth or heating pad on the back of your neck. Place an ice pack on your forehead, the back of your neck or the top of your head.
Put a few drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil into the bath, or rub a few drops on your temples, the nape of the neck and the hairline.
Drink an herbal tea of feverfew, which helps to relieve headaches, or chamomile and peppermint, which are calming. A cup of hot, strong coffee helps to relieve congestive-type headaches.
Take supplements if you get headaches frequently. Calcium and magnesium relieve muscular tension, the enzyme bromelain reduces inflammation, and glucosamine sulfate can help to relieve pain.
Visualize the muscles inside your head and neck loosening and relaxing. Try to hold the image for at least half a minute every hour.
