Book Binding and Leather Glue
1 package (1/4 oz.) unflavored gelatin
3 TBS. boiling water
1 TBS. vinegar
1 tsp. glycerin

In a pan, add gelatin to boiling water. Stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Add the vinegar and glycerin while stirring until mixture is well blended.

Makes 1/3 cup.
While the glue is still warm, apply a
thin layer with a brush. This glue is waterproof and is excellent for binding leather to leather & fabric to cardboard. Store in a tightly capped plastic or glass jar and it will keep for several months. If the glue gels in the bottle, you can reuse it by warming under hot water.

Envelope Glue

6 tablespoons white vinegar
4 oz. unflavored gelatin
1 tablespoon vanilla or wintergreen extract

Bring vinegar to a boil over med heat, Add gelatin and stir until dissolved. remove from heat, add extract. Brush on
thin layer onto back of an envelope flap. Let dry. Store extra Glue in baby food jar or other glass container with lid. If glue hardens, place in pan of hot water for several minutes.
Store excess glue in a sealed container and melt again for future use by putting in a pan of warm water.

Envelope Paste

1 packet (1/4 oz
) unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup boiling water
1 Tbs sugar
1/4 tsp food flavoring (Optional)

Carefully, Dissolve gelatin in bowl with boiling water, Adding sugar until dissolved. Add flavoring (vanilla, maple, lemon or a few drops of peppermint oil)Similar to the stamp glue. Brush it onto the back of stickers or on envelope flaps. allow to dry. Lick it later when you are ready to seal or stick.

Glass Glue (Waterproof)

2 packets (1/2 ounce) unflavored gelatin
2 T. cold water
3 T. skim milks
Several drops oil of cloves

In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water. Set aside to soften. Heat milk to boiling point and pour into softened gelatin. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add oil of cloves as preservative. Cloves may be omitted if you don't plan to save the glue.

Makes about 1/3 cup

Uses: Great for adding labels to canning jars, gluing marbles, etc to jars.

Glue

Combine the following in a small saucepan & bring to a rolling boil:

3/4 cup water
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoons white vinegar

Blend the following in a small bowl:

1/2 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup cold water


Add the cornstarch mix slowly to first mix. Stir constantly. Remove from heat, Let stand overnight before using.
